Why use AP College Consulting?
Each student has a unique story and their need for our support varies. We are prepared to do as much, or as little, as you need.
High school counselors are an important part of the college application process but often have equally pressing demands on them regarding graduation requirements, testing, class scheduling, etc., making it hard to focus college needs. Your college search is our only priority. To that end we can assist with:
High School Course selection: Depending on what your school offers and where you want to attend college, we can review your transcript and upcoming course selection options and chart a strong academic path to increase your standing in the college selection process.
Web based tools to assist you in making informed college decisions. These tools go beyond Naviance and California College.edu, allowing you to personalize lists and access information from counselors nationwide who have visited those schools. Additionally, our team visits over 30 schools a year and has built an extensive knowledge library of college programs, strengths, and opportunities.
Individual or group based guidance in application completion.
We offer small group or individual workshops on completing the Common Application, the UC and California State applications. We also assist students in charting a path from Community College to either a UC, State or private school.
Essay brainstorming, feedback, editing
This is a major part of the process for many students. We help students brainstorm topics for the Common Application as well as UC personal insight questions. We conduct several rounds of feedback and edits before submission. We also help with any required supplemental essays.
Time Management and Checklists:
We ensure the student and parent are informed as to what tasks are coming up, which are completed and who needs to act on them.
College tour and interview prep:
We help students prepare for interviews and tours by thinking through with them what types of questions they want answered and help build a resume they want to share with a college admission officers.
Financial Aid assistance:
Providing guidance in completing the FASFA, CSS, and finding scholarships that fit student’s background and needs is another service area of AP College Consulting. We also help families interpret financial aid award letters so they can distinguish which is the best offer.
